Windows 7 64bit do not load after SP1 Installation
INSTRUCTIONS:
01. Reboot your computer while it's starting up.
02. When your computer starts up again, choose the option "Launch Startup Repair"
03. When the Startup repair starts, click cancel.
04. After you click cancel it will show a box. Click "Don't Send"
05. Click the link "View advanced options for recovery and support"
06. In the new window click Command Prompt at the bottom.
07. In Command Prompt type this and press enter: %windir%\system32\notepad.exe
08. Notepad will open. In notepad go to File-->Open.
09. Change the type of files notepad views from .txt to All Files (see pic)
10. Now in Notepad, go to C:\Windows\winsxs\ (or whichever drive Windows is installed on)
11. In that folder, find pending.xml and make a copy of it
12. Now open the original pending.xml (it will load really slow because the file is huge)
13. Press CNTRL+F and search for the following exactly: 0000000000000000.cdf-ms
14. Delete the following text (yours will be a little different):
Just make sure you delete section "Checkpoint" and whatever other sections have "000000000000000.cdf-ms". They will be right next to eachother.
15. Save the file, close notepad, close command prompt, restart your computer.
Once your computer starts up, do a normal startup (it may stall for 5-10 minutes at the "starting windows" screen, but leave it going) and the Service Pack will install some more stuff and restart a few times and then everything should be working! For some people, it reverts everything and cancels the service pack installation. For other people, the service pack installation completes. Either result is fine.

Outlook 2007: Cannot Turn Off The Reminder. You May Be Reminded Again.
I use Outlook 2007 to manage email and to schedule appointments or meeting requests. Recently Outlook crashed and required a scan of the PST file before it would operate properly again. All seemed to be working without issue and then one of my recurring meetings continued to alert me that it was time for the meeting which was incorrect. After dismissing the item it would continue to warn of the issue which lead me to believe that the recurring meeting entry had become corrupted. After poking around some more I was able to verify that the meeting was in fact corrupted and read about all sorts of various steps that could be taken to resolve the issue. After attempting many of those steps including the /cleanreminders switch the meeting still existed and was still corrupted. Below I describe the error in more detail and a simple way to resolve a corrupted recurring meeting entry in the Outlook 2007 calendar.
Microsoft Office Outlook 2007 Corrupt Calendar Entry Error:
Microsoft Office Outlook 2007 Error Text: Cannot turn off the reminder. You may be reminded again. Cannot locate recurrence information for this appointment.
There are a couple different errors associated to a corrupt recurring calendar entry in Microsoft Outlook. The above appears to be one of the more common errors however I also noticed the below to Outlook errors that popped up and ended up being related to the same corrupt calendar entry.
Microsoft Office Outlook: Cannot Postpone Reminder Error
Microsoft Office Outlook: Cannot Open This Item Error
Steps Taken To Resolve Corrupt Outlook Calendar Entry:
- Open Outlook: First launch Outlook 2007 as you normally would do. In a short amount of time the recurring reminder should pop open from the corrupted Calendar entry. When you attempt to click the Snooze button or the Dismiss button one of the errors mentioned above will more than likely display. Make sure to note what entry is corrupted as it will be the item we attempt to remove.
- Open Outlook Calendar: Click Go in the Outlook top navigation bar and select Calendar from the drop down to display the Outlook Calendar.
- Change Calendar View: Now modify the view of the Outlook Calendar to display all of the appointments you have configured by clicking on View in the top navigation, hover over Current View in the drop down, and select All Appointments from the pop out menu as shown in the below example image.
Once you select the All Appointments view the center column of Outlook will display a list of every appointment including both past appointments and present appointments.
- Delete Corrupt Appointment: Now search through the list of all of your Outlook appointments to locate the recurring appointment that continues to pop open reminders. Once located you should highlight the appointment in questions and then click the delete button(red X) to remove the appointment from Outlook. More than likely an error will pop up when you attempt to delete the corrupted appointment such as the one displayed in the below Outlook error message.
Outlook Error Text: The move, copy, or deletion cannot be completed. The items might have been moved or deleted, or you may not have the sufficient permission. If the item was sent as a task request or meeting request, the sender might not receive updates. Cannot locate recurrence information for this appointment.
- Verify Appointment Removed: After the corrupt appointment or appointments have been removed close Outlook and then restart it to verify that the appointment does not continue to pop open and still provide an error message. You may have to locate numerous appointments to be deleted depending on how many were corrupted initially.
You should now be able to add the appointment or appointments back to Outlook without receiving further errors. If you remove the problem and then have errors continue to pop open at a later date there may be a different issue such as a hard drive that is beginning to fail so make sure to investigate further.

Since there is a correct and a wrong entry when you reach the crossing point of these two entries you will get the autofill list as shown below.
Now check that on the Autofill list there is only the correct entry.(See below)

Acronis Uninstall caused Vista to hung after loading crcdisk.sys
This means that Windows crashes while trying to load a filter driver (which is still written in the registry reffering to a file that no longer exists on the disk since the software that created it (Acronis) has already been removed. What we have to do now is to remove from registry this entry that reffers to a non existent file and help Windows load.
Bellow are the steps to follow in order to do that:
- Insert your Windows Vista DVD and boot up to the DVD boot menu.
- Press OK to get past the language settings.
- Choose Repair Computer.
- Choose cancel at System Restore
- Choose Command Prompt.
- Enter "regedit" without the quotes.
- Highlight HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE (HKLM) in the left pane.
- Go to the File menu and choose Load Hive.
- Navigate to the drive where Vista is installed (C: in most of the cases). Step down to C:\Windows\System32\Config. Choose the "System" file (with no extension). Click OPEN.
- In the next window name the hive "Broken System" without the quotes.
- Hit the plus next to HKLM. You will see a key named " Broken System".
- Drill down to HKLM\Broken System\ControlSet001\Control\Class\{4D36E967-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}.
- Look in the right pane for an Upper Filters line. If you see "snapman" without the quotes, you need to delete it.
- Only delete snapman by using the Modify on the Edit menu entry. Make sure you do not delete any other Upper Filters in the list.
- You should also check HKLM\Remote System\ControlSet001\Control\Class\{71A27CDD-812A-11D0-BEC7-08002BE2092F} for Upper Filter entries. If you see "snapman" remove it from there as well.
- Now unload the Remote System hive. Highlight it in the left pane. Go to the File menu and choose Unload Hive. This will save the changes in the Vista registry.
- Exit the command prompt and hit Restart...
Cheers...for now!!!!
